“Dear America: From Vietnam with Love”
Dear America: From Vietnam with Love is narrated by a seventy-year-old woman who recalls her life in the ebb and flow of history. The author’s lifelong experiences bring a unique perspective to the significant historical events and societal changes, giving her the authority to discuss the troublesome events of today.
The author was born into wealth but grew up near poverty because of war. She ran away from home at age 15 to escape essential privations and domestic miseries. This journey led her from home and put her in a decade of ignorance and isolation in America until American education freed her.
Upon receiving her education, the author committed herself to opening up Vietnam after the war. She egged on the United States back to the geopolitics of Southeast Asia, not an imperialist but a productive partner to the Pacific Rim.
She is now an author, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother.
